Yes, cleanings can sometimes whiten your teeth. We may be able to lift some stains from your teeth by polishing them using our professional tools. These results won’t be as dramatic as a teeth whitening treatment, but you may notice a slight difference.
To keep your teeth from developing stains, we recommend taking good care of your teeth at home by implementing a good oral hygiene routine. On top of your at-home oral hygiene routine, you can also rinse your mouth with water after you eat and avoid dark-colored foods and drinks that have a tendency to cause stains.
At your dental visit, we’ll clean your teeth and examine your mouth to make sure you’re healthy. We can clean all areas of your teeth of hardened plaque, which is more difficult to clean off.
We’ll also provide a full mouth examination consisting of noninvasive visual and physical examination, X-rays if you’re due for them, and an oral cancer screening. These all help us assess your oral health and catch any potential dental issues before they require intense treatment.
